Lyon have joined the race to sign Andre Onana in the last few hours, according to a report from Calciomercato – in news that may be of interest to Arsenal.
Onana has been linked with a host of sides this summer. It was claimed earlier in the window that a move to the Emirates was ‘imminent’.

The Ajax goalkeeper has since seen the ban he is currently serving reduced. However, Arsenal’s hopes of getting a deal done seemingly depended on Bernd Leno.
According to a report from Goal in June, Onana is keen to join Arsenal. However, his priority is to be first-choice at his next club.
Of course, the Cameroonian is out until November. So letting Leno leave this summer would be a gamble from the Gunners.

And with that, it does appear that the links with Arsenal may have gone a little quiet more recently.
It was recently suggested that he had decided to stay with the Eredivisie side for the final year of his contract. Inter Milan were apparently positioning themselves ready to make an offer ahead of next summer.
But Calciomercato has claimed that the situation may have changed again in the last few hours.
They suggest that Lyon have made it clear that they want to sign Onana this summer. And it is claimed that the goalkeeper is now weighing up whether he wants to change his stance.
Arsenal find themselves in tricky position in Onana race as Lyon target deal
Mikel Arteta’s hopes of signing Onana seemingly depend on offloading Leno before the window shuts.
Obviously, that would cause a further issue with Onana suspended for the opening months of the campaign.
Mat Ryan is heading elsewhere this summer. And Alex Runarsson looks set to leave after a nightmare spell at the Emirates.
So if Arteta does decide he wants Onana and is therefore, willing to let Leno go, the Gunners would have to sign a goalkeeper good enough to take the gloves for a few months, but also willing to potentially become a backup once Onana is available again.
They may therefore, hope that Onana does now snub Lyon. Looking again next summer may be the best option.
