Leeds United will open talks with Cody Gakpo in the coming days, with ED in the Netherlands reporting that the Whites believe that they could reach an agreement with PSV Eindhoven for the forward.
Gakpo has moved onto Leeds’ radar as it becomes increasingly likely that Raphinha will leave. Of course, there has been speculation that he could depart for £65 million imminently.

Reports last week claimed that Gakpo is Leeds’ top target should the Brazilian leave. And it does indeed seem that Jesse Marsch’s men are planning to step up their interest in the 23-year-old in the near future.
In fact, ED reports that Leeds will hold talks with Gakpo in the coming days. And Victor Orta is hopeful that the PSV star can be convinced to make the move to Elland Road.

Gakpo is wanted by others. But Leeds hope that the assurances over game-time will boost their hopes of securing a deal.
PSV are not going to let Gakpo leave on the cheap. The previous reports on their interest claimed that an offer of €30 million should be enough. However, the Eredivisie want considerably more.
ED reports that PSV will not consider offers of less than £34.5 million. That figure represents their record sale from when Hirving Lozano joined Napoli. And they would want that record smashed before agreeing to sell Gakpo.
Obviously, that would also make him Leeds’ record signing, too.
Leeds will open Cody Gakpo talks in coming days
Obviously, Leeds will not want to lose Raphinha. But signing Gakpo in response to his departure would be a superb piece of business.
He has just enjoyed a stunning year in the Netherlands, scoring 21 goals and contributing 15 goals in all competitions. And he is a ‘special‘ talent.
Signing Gakpo would represent the kind of ambition Leeds fans want to see should Raphinha leave.
