Report: Leeds want Sergino Dest, but Ten Hag’s been offered defender

Leeds United want Sergino Dest, but TEAMtalk reports that Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign the right-back ahead of the summer.

Leeds can now set their sights on their top targets in this window. The Whites ensured that they will remain in the Premier League next year with a win on the final day of the campaign.

They appear to have wasted little time agreeing a deal for Brenden Aaronson. Reports claimed that the USMNT international is set to become Leeds’ first signing of the window.

And it seems that Jesse Marsch now wants another of his countrymen.

Leeds were linked with Dest while their Premier League status was uncertain. And TEAMtalk is now reporting that the Whites are indeed eyeing a move for the Barcelona full-back.

However, they may perhaps face competition from Manchester United for the starlet. Barcelona have offered Dest to Erik ten Hag’s men. The Dutchman worked with the right-back while at Ajax.

Dest is surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp. So Barca will likely welcome Leeds’ interest in the 21-year-old.

Of course, Barcelona are pushing to sign Raphinha this summer. So you would imagine that the Catalan giants would be happy to use Dest to secure the Brazilian for a lower price.

Leeds fans may be wary about the idea of signing another full-back from Barcelona. It is fair to say that Junior Firpo has not had the best first year at Elland Road.

Dest has not had the easiest time at Barcelona, which may not help. And Leeds fans will probably not be best pleased if a swap is discussed and Dest’s involvement knocks a large chunk off what Barca pay for Raphinha.

But he is a player with ‘unreal‘ potential. And right-back has been a problematic position for Leeds this season.

But signing Dest may not be easy with the youngster also being offered elsewhere.
