Romano says Leeds are now close to signing Brenden Aaronson

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed on Twitter that Leeds United are now close to signing Brenden Aaronson after the Whites managed to stay in the Premier League on the final day of the season.

Jesse Marsch’s men have secured survival after a dramatic Sunday. They knew heading into the game that they needed to better Burnley’s result against Newcastle.

Leeds were massive underdogs. The Clarets have been superb of late. And the Whites had struggled with the pressure after being dragged back into the battle to beat the drop.

But ultimately, it was Leeds who stayed up. Raphinha and Jack Harrison helped the club to a 2-1 win over Brentford. Meanwhile, Burnley were beaten at Turf Moor.

And it appears that Leeds are planning to waste little time to kick on. In fact, their first signing of the window may not be too far away.

‘Deal in place for months’

Leeds have been heavily linked with Aaronson for some time. And the appointment of Marsch seemed to increase the likelihood of such a deal happening.

But of course, the fight to stay up meant that any plans for the summer had to stay on the back burner. However, it seems that Victor Orta is ready to capitalise on the good feeling at Elland Road.

Romano has taken to Twitter to suggest that a deal for Aaronson has been in place for months. And talks are set to be completed in the next few days.

Leeds will apparently pay around £24 million for the Red Bull Salzburg attacking midfielder…

Leeds close to signing Aaronson

Whites fans have been dreading this day for some time. Many feared that it would be the last they would see of several key men.

Some may still leave. But Leeds now have an amazing opportunity. The fans will want to show some real ambition this summer.

And signing Aaronson would be that. He is a ‘special‘ talent with a bright future ahead. And he looks set to be playing at Elland Road next year.
