Arsenal would need to pay more than £51 million if they hope to sign Kieran Trippier this summer, according to a report from Spanish outlet AS.
Trippier is on the Gunners’ radar as Mikel Arteta eyes a new right-back. It was recently reported that Arsenal had made contact with Atletico Madrid over a potential move.

Interestingly, that report from The Sun claimed that Atleti wanted £34 million for the England international.
However, it would now appear that they actually want a lot more.
According to AS, Atletico have told all of his admirers – Arsenal and Manchester United are the two leading the charge – that they have no interest in selling the 30-year-old.

And thus, any side wanting to sign Trippier would have to trigger his €60 million release clause (£51.2 million).
Atletico stance surely rules out unlikely Trippier move to Arsenal
It was already difficult to imagine Arsenal paying anything like £34 million for Trippier.
He turns 31 next month. Meanwhile, Arteta still has a large group of options to pick from in that area of the pitch.
They have not yet moved on any of their first-team options at right-back. In fact, it was reported this week that they would like to agree a new contract with Hector Bellerin.
So a move for Trippier was unlikely. Atletico’s stance surely rules it out entirely.
