Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Kieran Trippier reports
A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from The Sun claiming the Gunners have contacted Atletico Madrid regarding a potential move for Kieran Trippier.
Mikel Arteta wants a new right-back this summer. It is being reported that Hector Bellerin is still set to leave the Emirates.
And it appears that a move for Trippier is on the Gunners’ radar. Manchester United had shown an interest in the 30-year-old. However, they are unwilling to offer much more than £20 million.
Atletico meanwhile, value Trippier at £34 million. Nevertheless, Arsenal have now joined the running. And they have apparently made contact, according to The Sun.
Unfortunately for Arteta, the news has not gone down particularly well amongst many of their supporters on social media.
Of course, Trippier has connections with their bitter rivals. But he also turns 31 later this year. So paying anything like £34 million makes little sense to the supporters.
There are some extremely exciting right-backs on the market. Max Aarons has recently been linked with a move to the Emirates.
‘Will never happen’: Some Arsenal fans discuss Kieran Trippier reports
Some would welcome Trippier. He helped Atleti win La Liga last season. And he can play on either flank.
But it does appear that many would be left scratching their heads if Arsenal did decide to meet his asking price.
With that in mind, here is how some of the Gunners fans have reacted to the reports…
If we’re spending money like this I don’t want to hear that we had no money for Bissouma or Maddison

Wouldn’t it be better to spend that on Lamptey or Arrons?

Will never happen. I think our signings so far has shown that we are done buying 30 something’s on big contracts

This is absolute madness if it happens

Max Aarons is younger and if not as good as Trippier and could cost 20-25 million – makes so much more sense!!
