Report: Club will now sell ‘different class’ player for £31m in January, Tottenham are already in talks
Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has a conundrum at right-back going into the second half of the season.
Emerson Royal has failed to convince and Matt Doherty has enjoyed a very successful mid-season break.
A report from O Jogo suggests there could be another name thrown into the mix next month too.
There’s the potential for plenty of incomings and outgoings at Spurs next month.
Conte has already made it clear he wants to add another attack to the squad.
Meanwhile the likes of Royal and Djed Spence have both been linked with moves away from the club.
They could be replaced in the squad by Sporting full-back Pedro Porro.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Spurs over the past few weeks.
Spanish outlet AS believe that Tottenham are already in talks with the defender.
And now, Sporting have set their asking price for Porro ahead of the January transfer window.
Sporting set Porro asking price
AS believe that Spurs are willing to pay up to £26m for the Portuguese next month.
The defender, who has previously been described as ‘different class’, could end up fetching more than that though.
O Jogo suggest that Sporting have set Porro’s asking price at around £31m.
It means there isn’t too much difference between both club’s valuations.
The Athletic have reported that Conte will be seriously annoyed if Spurs don’t sign Porro.
Daniel Levy is still trying to convince the Italian to sign a new contract in north London.
Spending the extra £5m it would take to sign Porro will go some way to convincing him that Spurs still believe in his project.
They’ve got every reason to, with Tottenham’s recruitment since he arrived being very strong.
Porro is one of Europe’s best attacking full-backs right now, and would slot into Conte’s system very well.
Now that Tottenham know what it’s going to cost them to bring Porro in, negotiations with both club and player can start.
