Report: Club may sell their 28-year-old star to West Ham and then try to sign Tottenham's £42m man

Tottenham Hotspur’s Giovani Lo Celso has been heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer and Area Napoli reports that Napoli may try to buy the midfielder

Lo Celso signed for Spurs from Real Betis back in the summer of 2019 on an initial loan. And the move was then made permanent just a few months later for a total fee of £42 million (£27.3m transfer fee + £15m loan fee)

But the Argentine has struggled to make an impact since moving to North London and seemingly doesn’t feature in Antonio Conte’s plans for the upcoming season.

The 26-year-old was left out of the pre-season tour squad of South Korea and didn’t travel to Rangers over the weekend for a pre-season friendly. So it seems his days at Spurs may be numbered.

Napoli may try and buy Lo Celso if Zielinski leaves

Area Napoli reports that Napoli may try to sign Lo Celso if Piotr Zielisnki leaves the club this summer

The Napoli midfielder has received interest from Spurs London rivals, West Ham, and while the negotiations aren’t advanced, sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli could be lining up a replacement.

Spurs are looking for a permanent transfer or a loan move with an obligation to buy the player and it’s thought that the club want a fee close to £17 million.

The Serie A club have apparently followed Lo Celso in recent seasons and could try to sign him after Conte has deemed him unsuitable for English football.

Lo Celso spent the second half of last season on loan at La Liga outfit Villareal and impressed once again in Spain. The Spurs man was an important part of Unai Emery’s team that made the Champions League semi-final.

Napoli’s Serie A rivals Fiorentina were also linked with a move to sign Lo Celso last week and could try to sign him permanently.

While Villareal reportedly want to bring Lo Celso back to the club but are ‘not in a position’ to move for him at this moment in time.

As the Argentine doesn’t seem to be part of Conte’s vision for this season, the midfielder will be keen to get a move sorted out sooner rather than later. Lo Celso is clearly a talented player and has shown that in his time at Real Betis and Villareal, but it just hasn’t worked out for him at Spurs.
