Report: Club believe Leeds will bid for their starlet in near future; Orta previously made enquiry
Valerenga are now braced for Leeds to make a bid for Kristoffer Klaesson in the near future, according to a report from Norwegian outlet Nettavisen.
The Whites are searching for a new goalkeeper. Kiko Casilla has left on loan. The news of his departure pleased plenty of supporters.
Links with several names have already emerged. It was reported on Tuesday that Freddie Woodman, Klaesson and Dani Cardenas were all on the club’s radar.
Leeds’ top target is yet to come to the fore. Woodman is likely to have many admirers amongst the fans after a superb couple of loan spells with Swansea City.
But perhaps Klaesson is the one Victor Orta knows the most about. As noted by Nettavisen, Leeds made an enquiry in 2020.
And it seems that Valerenga are expecting to have their resolve tested imminently. According to the report, the Norwegian outfit are prepared for Leeds to make a firm bid in the near future.
Klaesson could be shrewd signing for Leeds amid bid reports
Finding a backup goalkeeper could be tough for Leeds. Ideally, Illan Meslier will be first-choice for years to come.
So they need a stopper good enough to fill the void left by Casilla, but also one willing to be second-choice.
Klaesson appears to be on his way to proving that he is good enough. The 20-year-old has already made over 50 senior appearances.
But obviously, convincing him to join may not be simple. He is playing regularly.
At Leeds, he would have to bide his time more.
Could Whites replicate Meslier move with Klaesson?
A move for Klaesson would have similarities to the deal for Meslier. The pair are of a similar age.
And Meslier left Lorient having made 47 appearances for the first-team and second side.
The move has proved to be a masterstroke. Meslier has been a revelation, particularly in the Premier League.
So perhaps Leeds hope that Klaesson can follow in his footsteps.
