'Superb news', 'Cheered me up': Some Leeds fans react as club make announcement this week
A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that the club confirmed on the official website that Kiko Casilla has left on loan.
It may have come as a surprise to many that Casilla has been given the green light to leave. Throughout a turbulent time at Elland Road, Marcelo Bielsa has stuck by the 34-year-old.
It has disappointed many whenever Casilla has been picked following the suspension he served for racially abusing Jonathan Leko in 2019.
On the pitch, he appeared to be a decent understudy for Illan Meslier. When he was brought back into the fold, he often did well.
And replacing him may not be easy for Victor Orta. Although, reports last week suggested that the Leeds director believes that he may have a replacement lined up.
And with that, the news about Casilla’s departure appears to have gone down extremely well with Leeds fans on social media.
‘For the best’: Leeds fans react to Casilla loan
As mentioned, several supporters were not pleased to see Casilla remain with the club following his ban. And they are hoping that the loan to Elche leads to a permanent move further down the line.
With that in mind, here is how some of the fans have reacted to the announcement…
At this point probably best for both parties. Played 36 games the year we went up keeping 15 clean sheets which a lot will overlook, wether people like it or not he was a ever present the year we did it 👍🏼
