Report: Club about to make bid to sign ‘exciting’ Tottenham player today, Conte’s happy for him to be sold

According to Alfredo Pedulla, Fiorentina are expected to make a second bid today for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

The report suggests that Lo Celso is close to a permanent return to Villarreal after spending last season on loan there.

The 26-year-old has already given the ‘green light’ to a move back to the Yellow Submarines ahead of the start of their La Liga campaign.

However, Fiorentina haven’t given up signing the central midfielder just yet, although they have lined up Empoli’s Nedim Bajrami as a back-up if they’re unsuccessful in their approach.

The ‘exciting’ Argentine has not appeared once for Antonio Conte’s side during pre-season, and wasn’t in the matchday squad for their opening Premier League win against Southampton.

Fiorentina to bid for Lo Celso today

Lo Celso is one of a number of Tottenham players who have been told by Antonio Conte that they can leave the club this summer.

Tanguy Ndombele – who is reportedly attracting interest from AC Milan – Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks have also been frozen out of the Spurs squad, after a host of new signings were brought in by Conte to freshen up the squad.

Lo Celso was a bit-part player for Tottenham in the first half of last season, but the signing of Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus was set to limit his game time even further.

The Italian has also publicly suggested that Lo Celso was one of the players Tottenham were looking to offload this summer.

He became an important part of Villarreal’s side in his six months there, appearing in every league and Europa League match during his stint at El Madrigal.

A bidding war between Fiorentina and Villarreal would be the ideal situation for Tottenham to recoup as much money as possible from an unwanted player, but it may take some convincing from Fiorentina to stop Lo Celso returning to Spain.
