Report: Clement Lenglet could join Tottenham on two-year loan
Barcelona are working on a move that would see Clement Lenglet join Tottenham Hotspur on a two-year loan deal, according to a report from Spanish outlet Esport3.
Lenglet looks set to leave the Nou Camp this summer. Recent reports claimed that the Frenchman is coming around to the idea of moving on in some capacity.
He has plenty of Premier League admirers. Tottenham, Arsenal, Newcastle and Everton have all asked about signing the 26-year-old. However, there is a large stumbling block, as he apparently earns £164,000-a-week.
But it seems that a resolution on his future may be close. And actually, it seems that Lenglet may be on his way to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
According to Esport3, Barcelona are working on a two-year loan deal with Spurs.
Tottenham working to sign Lenglet on two-year loan deal
It is a surprise to hear that Tottenham are seemingly closing in on signing Lenglet. Antonio Conte’s men do need a new centre-back in this window.
But it does appear that another name is their top target. Previous reports have suggested that Conte has requested that Alessandro Bastoni is signed whatever the price.
In fact, it has been suggested that he has been asking about the Inter Milan star every day.
Perhaps they may target two centre-backs this summer. And a loan deal for Lenglet may not be a huge risk, apart from the fact that he does have high wages.
Lenglet was described as a ‘world-class‘ player by Didier Deschamps. So it would be a coup if Tottenham can get a deal across the line.
