Report claims Yves Bissouma is now close to joining Arsenal
Arsenal may perhaps be nearing their first new signing of the summer transfer window, with Italian outlet Calciomercato reporting that Yves Bissouma is close to joining the Gunners.
Arsenal fans are waiting for the batch of signings that hopefully will guide Mikel Arteta’s men towards taking that next step in their development.
Of course, a new striker is a priority, with Gabriel Jesus a key target. And they have also been heavily linked with a move for Youri Tielemans.
But the Belgian is not the only Premier League midfielder the Gunners have their eye on. In fact, reports claimed that they have maintained contact over Bissouma since the turn of the year.
Bissouma sent the rumour mill into overdrive at the weekend. He shared an Arsenal fan’s post saying that the Brighton star needed to be signed at all costs on his Instagram story.
And it seems that progress may have possibly been made on that front. Calciomercato is now reporting that Bissouma is close to joining Arsenal and looks destined to be playing at the Emirates next year.
Bissouma close to joining Arsenal
It would catch many off-guard if Arsenal did indeed go and sign Bissouma imminently. Based on the level of the speculation, it has appeared that Tielemans may be their top target in midfield.
But Arsenal do have a Europa League campaign to prepare for, too. So it would make sense if they had their eye on more than one signing in the middle of the park.
Bissouma is a ‘sensational‘ player. And his contract situation at Brighton opens the door for a potential bargain. His deal expires next summer. And thus, he is valued at around £30 million.
Perhaps Arsenal have taken advantage and looked to tie up a deal quickly.
