Report: Chelsea interested in Tottenham target Anthony Gordon
Chelsea are now interested in Anthony Gordon, with The Times reporting that Everton value the youngster at £50 million this summer.
Gordon has been a shining light in a difficult 12 months for the Toffees. Obviously, Frank Lampard’s men barely managed to keep themselves in the Premier League last year.
The 21-year-old played a key role in ensuring that they were safe. He was ‘sensational‘ at times last season. And with that, he is now attracting attention.
Reports claimed that Tottenham made a £100 million bid for Gordon and Richarlison. Meanwhile, Newcastle United are also admirers of the winger.
Everton value Gordon at £50 million. But The Times reports that there is an expectation that he will sign a new contract at Goodison Park. However, they may have to see off interest from Chelsea first.
According to The Times, the Blues want Gordon as they continue to target some of the country’s best young players. They have already landed Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa.
The report notes that Chelsea striker Armando Broja is a loan target for the Toffees. So it will be interesting to see if he features at all in any bid made.
Chelsea interested in Anthony Gordon
It would be a surprise if Chelsea managed to bring Gordon to Stamford Bridge this summer. Everton would be sending out a worrying message if they sold him at this stage of the window.
Gordon must also be aware that it could be a gamble to go this soon in his career. Should his current trajectory continue, the big-money offers will come in future windows.
He should be in no rush to leave Merseyside now that he is a key player. And Everton will hope that the struggles Ross Barkley has endured help convince Gordon to stay this summer should Chelsea come calling.
