Report: Champions League club have now met with 'incredible' Arsenal player's agent and he wants to leave
Atletico Madrid want to sign Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin this summer after an impressive loan spell last season.
Goal claim that Bellerin’s time at Real Betis have put him back on the market during a transfer window in which he looks set to leave Arsenal.
The defender has just one year left on his Gunners contract and a permanent switch to Betis looked the most likely outcome when the transfer market opened.
But Diego Simeone can offer Champions League football and wants a new right-back, having lost Kieran Trippier to Newcastle this year.
Atletico Madrid want Bellerin
The report says Atletico’s interest has reached the point where they have met Bellerin’s agent, although the situation has cooled slightly in recent days.
It also underlines that he wants to leave north London this summer, and that is a wish that Arsenal are willing to accommodate.
But they do not want to lose him for a knockdown price, despite his contract situation, and that may work against Betis and in favour of Atletico.
Other options on Atletico’s radar include Tottenham’s Emerson Royal, whose father has recently said the defender has held talks with the Spanish giants.
It was reported in April that Betis had held talks with the agent of Bellerin, who has been described as ‘incredible‘ by Mikel Arteta.
But it seems they no longer have a free run at the right-back, who performed so impressively for them in La Liga last season.
Arsenal have not done so well at getting high fees for unwanted players during Arteta’s reign, but this is another chance for them to try, with a potential bidding war emerging.
