Report: Braithwaite prefers Tottenham over West Ham

Martin Braithwaite would reportedly prefer a move to Tottenham Hotspur over West Ham United this summer.

What’s the story?

The Danish striker allegedly already has an agreement in place about joining the Hammers.

However, according to Sport, the player would like more time to consider his options, especially if Harry Kane leaves Tottenham this summer.

Braithwaite is among the favourites on Spurs’ list of strikers to replace the England international and he would seemingly prefer the Lilywhites.

Kane is reportedly on his way to Manchester City this summer, with the Citizens confident of completing a transfer.

It will be a bitter blow for David Moyes’ men, who were in advanced discussions over a £12.8m deal for Braithwaite.

Braithwaite the wrong side of 30

Signing a replacement for Kane is paramount for Tottenham. However, Braithwaite is on the wrong side of 30 as he looks to stall his West Ham move.

The Englishman is a world-class performer and has been for a number of years. His attacking output is simply ridiculous, with the Tottenham star having scored 20-plus goals in four of his seven top-flight seasons.

You’d imagine Nuno Espirito Santo would want to replace him with a like-minded player. Unfortunately, that doesn’t prove to be Braithwaite, who is the exact opposite.

The 30-year-old has only ever hit double figures for league goals twice in his senior career. When compared to Kane, it shows the difference in quality.

And at such an age, he won’t improve on the current level he is playing at.
