Arsenal director Edu met with the agent of Liverpool target Jonathan David in December, according to reports.
Both the Gunners and the Reds have been linked with the 21-year-old striker in recent weeks.
The Evening Standard reported in December that Arsenal are looking into multiple options for the centre-forward role.
And David, who plays for French outfit Lille, is apparently on the Gunners radar too.

Meanwhile, CBS claims Liverpool are looking at David as a possible Roberto Firmino replacement in summer.
Now, football.london claims Edu met with the agent of David at the end of December.
The Canada international is highly admired by certain figures within London Colney, added the report.
David is Ligue 1’s top scorer so far this season, with 12 goals from 19 league appearances.
The 21-year-old also has three Champions League goals and one strike in the French Cup.
Gent manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck described him as a “phenomenon” prior to his transfer to Lille.
L’Equipe has claimed that David boasts a £30million price tag – very much affordable for Arsenal and Liverpool.
Better still for the Gunners and the Reds, the player is looking for a step up in summer.
David’s agent, Nick Mavromaras, told Radio Canada: “For us, the goal is to finish the season in Lille.
“But it will be his last season there for several reasons. I think the Premier League is a good option for him.
“I think that he likes Spain a lot also because he likes the feeling of the ball and the very technical players.”
