Report: Arsenal want Isak, Calvert-Lewin and Neves all signed this summer
Arsenal are planning moves for Ruben Neves, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Alexander Isak, with The Sun reporting that Mikel Arteta could be given the funds to spend up to £180 million to land the trio in the summer.
Surprisingly, the Gunners made no signings during the January transfer window. That is despite a number of names leaving the club either on loan or permanently.
Of course, they are particularly short of options up front. They were heavily linked with Dusan Vlahovic. But once Vlahovic was taken out of the equation, their attention reportedly switched to Calvert-Lewin and Isak.
Reports claimed that they were prepared to pay £60 million for Calvert-Lewin. Meanwhile, Isak seemed to leave the door open to potentially consider his future when asked about the prospect of leaving this week.
It was claimed that Arsenal were in negotiations for Neves, too. Obviously, none of those moves went through in January. But Arsenal are not giving up, it seems.
The Sun reports that Arteta is set to be backed in the market again. And with that, Arsenal are looking at signing all three players. The outlay could be around £180 million.
Isak has a release clause of £75 million – and would become the club’s record signing. Meanwhile, Wolves value Neves at £45 million.
Arsenal fans will believe it when they see when it comes to Calvert-Lewin, Isak and Neves links
Arsenal supporters may be in two minds about the latest reports. On the one hand, they enjoyed a brilliant summer window. And they managed to get a number of big-money deals done.
But January proved to be incredibly frustrating. And the trio were all linked. So it may not be much easier to secure their signatures in the summer.
They would be three hugely exciting additions. All three have established themselves at the highest level. Calvert-Lewin was previously described as a ‘fantastic‘ striker by Carlo Ancelotti.
So it would be a massive statement if they did manage to get these three deals done. But it does look to be a big if right now.
