Alexander Isak has insisted that he is happy at Real Sociedad in an interview with Mundo Deportivo after being asked about the links with Arsenal during the January transfer window.
Isak looked set to be one of the Gunners’ top targets once it became apparent that Dusan Vlahovic would not be moving to the Emirates.

It was suggested that Arsenal were actively pursuing Isak after missing out on Vlahovic. The Athletic noted that he has a release clause in his contract in San Sebastián. However, the Gunners hoped to do a deal for less than that amount.
Obviously, the window would close without a move taking place. But Arsenal failed to sign any striker during the window. Therefore, they will definitely be on the lookout this summer.

Isak has now been asked about the interest from Arsenal. He was then asked whether he ever thought about leaving Real. And, intriguingly, he did not use the opportunity to shut the door entirely.
“I’m not talking about other clubs. I’m a Real player, I work here and this is my club. My work is inside the field, and as I told you before, there are other people who work outside,” he told Mundo Deportivo, when asked about Arsenal.
“You can never be sure of anything. As I always say, you never know what can happen in football, but in the end I am here, happy, and nothing else,” he added, after being asked whether he had been sure about staying.
Arsenal now face battle finishing high enough to attract Isak this summer
Arsenal will certainly monitor Isak over the remaining months of the season. He has had a less prolific campaign. But he remains a huge talent.
Gary Lineker labelled one of his performances during Euro 2020 ‘exceptional‘. And he scored 17 times in La Liga last year. So clearly, he has a serious amount of potential.
Real have a chance to achieve something special again this year. They are two points adrift of the top four. So luring Isak away may not be easy for Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta’s men have a problem of their own. The work they have done in January has left their squad looking incredibly light. And they now only have two strikers.
Neither Alexandre Lacazette or Eddie Nketiah have been prolific this season. So Arsenal face a battle to hold onto a European spot.
Should they miss out, signing the likes of Isak this summer is surely going to become a lot tougher.
