Report: Arsenal now monitoring Josko Gvardiol amid Saliba speculation

Arsenal have become the latest Premier League side to join the race to sign Josko Gvardiol, with Media Foot suggesting that the Gunners could bid if William Saliba leaves.

Saliba looks to be in Mikel Arteta’s plans for the coming season. However, speculation surrounding his future persists ahead of the campaign. Reports have claimed that Marseille want to sign the youngster permanently.

It was suggested that Maxence Lacroix is on their radar. But he is not the only player.

According to Media Foot, Arsenal also want Gvardiol. The Croatian is looked at as one of the brightest prospects in the European game right now.

Reports have claimed that Tottenham and Manchester City want the 20-year-old. Antonio Conte apparently views him as their top target at the back. And there have been suggestions that RB Leipzig could demand as much as £80 million for the youngster.

Arsenal signing Josko Gvardiol would be an amazing statement

There are probably few Arsenal fans believing that they have any chance of signing Gvardiol in this window. He looks to be happy in Leipzig. And clearly, he is going to cost an incredible amount.

In fact, Gvardiol could potentially become Arsenal’s record signing. The signs are however, that he is good enough to live up to those expectations.

Gvardiol can play at centre-back and left-back. He reads the game brilliantly, and his composure on the ball is hugely impressive. Jesse Marsch called him ‘amazing‘ during his time with the Bundesliga side.

It really would be one of the most stunning deals of the summer if Arsenal could convince Gvardiol to move to the Emirates this summer.

His ceiling could be so high. And it would be saying something if Manchester City and Spurs missed out to the Gunners in the race for his signature.

It does seem an unlikely move at this stage. But perhaps it is a situation to monitor the longer Gvardiol remains at Leipzig.
