Report: Arsenal have now made £58.6m bid for star

Arsenal are looking to pull off what would surely be the most exciting deal of the January transfer window, with Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that they have now made a bid for Dusan Vlahovic worth £58.6 million.

Vlahovic remains one of the devastating goalscorers in Europe. The 21-year-old has 16 goals in 20 Serie A appearances for Fiorentina this term. In total, he has 47 goals in 106 games for the club.

He is attracting attention from a host of clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid. But it would appear that Arsenal may believe that they could have a trump card in their pursuit.

Of course, Lucas Torreira is on loan in Florence. And the Gunners have apparently used the midfielder in their latest offer for the striker.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Arsenal have put £46 million on the table for Vlahovic. And their bid includes Torreira moving in the opposite direction on a permanent basis. Mikel Arteta’s men value the Uruguayan at £12.6 million.

Fiorentina are yet to respond to the offer. But Vlahovic is apparently not letting the speculation distract him.

Arsenal will surely expect Fiorentina to reject latest Vlahovic bid

Only Nicolas Pepe will have cost Arsenal more if their bid for Vlahovic is accepted.

Previous reports have claimed that Fiorentina would like £77 million for the youngster. Meanwhile, he is looking for a contract worth £200,000-a-week at his next club. So clearly, there are plenty of hurdles in the way.

Arsenal certainly need to strengthen their striker options in this window or the next. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract in the summer. And questions are now being asked about the future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Vlahovic has had an amazing 18 months. And it would be a huge coup for Arsenal to bring him to the Emirates. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic previously described the starlet as ‘outstanding’.

Their latest offer is a promising move. But the Gunners will know that Fiorentina will surely want more.
