Report: Arsenal have now decided on their top two targets this summer, talks ongoing for months
Gabriel Jesus and Youri Tielemans are the top two targets for Arsenal this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his squad, as per Goal.
Both players have Premier League experience and contract situations which mean they should be available at decent prices.
Arsenal have reportedly made a bid of £42 million for Jesus, but interest from Real Madrid among others means the deal is far from done.
It has also been claimed that Arsenal think they can sign Tielemans this month, with the transfer window due to open tomorrow.
Jesus and Tielemans are top Arsenal targets
The report says that Arsenal have been speaking to the representatives for months.
That underlines how much the Gunners want the pair and the confidence they have that deals can be done this summer.
Both men are away with their countries and perhaps their situations will move along once they are no longer on international duty and their long seasons finally end.
The report claims Tielemans could be available for around £25 million, as Arsenal look to back up last summer’s spending spree with more smart business this time around.
Links with both players have been going on for a while and it is now seemingly clear that if Arsenal have a perfect summer, both Jesus and Tielemans will be their players by the time next season kicks off.
The groundwork done in those months of ongoing talks should help the deals get done, although the lack of Champions League football may prove an issue.
Arteta’s business last summer drew criticism but came good, and these two deals look like good ones on paper, if he can get them over the line.
