Report: Arsenal now think they're going to sign 'outstanding' player, potentially before end of the month
Arsenal think they will sign Youri Tielemans from Leicester this summer, and want it done by the end of the month.
90Min report that the only remaining issue is the size of the transfer fee that the Gunners pay for a player who is going into the final 12 months of his contract.
They say that Arsenal are now the favourites for the ‘outstanding‘ Belgium international, and that the player himself wants to make the move.
Tielemans’ contract situation offers an opportunity to get a player with his best years ahead of him but also with Premier League experience for a decent price.
Arsenal think they will sign Tielemans
Their report reads: “Arsenal are ready to firm up their interest in Youri Tielemans this month and are confident of finalising a deal.
“The Gunners have already held talks with the player’s representatives and Leicester have already accepted that the player’s future lies away from King Power Stadium.
“A number of clubs have expressed an interest in signing Tielemans, but Arsenal are now firm favourites to clinch his signature.
“Sources close to the club have confirmed the Belgian is interested in moving to the Emirates Stadium and there’s belief at Arsenal that a deal will be done – with a successful outcome in the coming month the hope.
“The only stumbling block is the size of the fee Arsenal will pay. Mikel Arteta’s side are hoping to pay less than £25 million but the Foxes would ideally like to receive closer to £30 million.“
The deal looks there for Arsenal to do and even the difference in the potential valuations should not be too hard to get past.
Leicester are used to selling their players and going again and they will have a plan in place for replacing Tielemans this summer.
It would be great for Arteta if Tielemans was through the door before pre-season starts, allowing him to get bedded in for the start of the next campaign.
