Report: Arsenal eye 24-year-old with nine goals this season
Arsenal are interested in signing RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku, according to a report from Calciomercato.
Nkunku has made a remarkable start to the season for the Bundesliga side. He has nine goals in all competitions, including four in the Champions League.
Three of those came in a stunning display against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium back in September. They actually lost 6-3 that day.
Nkunku’s record is all the more impressive given that he seldom plays as a central striker. In fact, the large majority of his goals this term have come from attacking midfield.
And it seems that they have reignited their interest. Calciomercato reports that the Gunners have set their sights on Nkunku.
Signing Nkunku would be an outstanding piece of business from Arsenal
It would be an amazing statement for Arsenal to sign Nkunku. He boasts lightening speed and is one of Leipzig’s most creative players.
He is also capable of playing in a variety of positions. Already this season, he has played on both flanks, as well as a second striker.
It was recently reported that Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid all want the former Paris Saint-Germain man.
So Arsenal securing his signature would be a huge piece of business.
The onus is on the Gunners to keep moving up the Premier League table. They will surely need to make further progress if they want to attract a player such as Nkunku in the coming windows.
