The likes of Arsenal and West Ham could receive a big boost heading into the January transfer window, with Eurosport reporting that Gabriel Barbosa might become available on loan next month.

Gabigol is attracting attention from a host of Premier League clubs ahead of the window opening. The 25-year-old scored 12 goals in 17 league games for Flamengo in 2021. Remarkably, his tally in all competitions for the year stood at 33 goals.

It was reported earlier this month that the Gunners wanted Barbosa. Meanwhile, there was interest from the likes of West Ham, Newcastle, Everton and Aston Villa. And that report from 90min suggested that he had an asking price of £30 million.

Of course, Barbosa’s previous spell in Europe did not work out too well. He scored once in 10 games for Inter Milan and was loaned out a few times before returning to Brazil.

With that in mind, his admirers may have perhaps had reservations about his asking price.

However, Eurosport is now suggesting that sources have noted that Barbosa might become available on loan. They also suggest that West Ham and Villa want the Brazil international, and looking for a short-term solution to their lack of options up front.

Signing Gabriel Barbosa on loan must surely appeal to the likes of Arsenal and West Ham

Arsenal are on a fantastic run right now. Mikel Arteta’s men are right in the mix for the top four. However, goals from their strikers have been in short supply this term. And of course, there is plenty of speculation surrounding what the future holds for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

West Ham meanwhile, have lacked depth up front for much of David Moyes’s tenure. And they will be wary of letting their brilliant start to the campaign slip through their grasp.

So signing a striker in January could be a huge boost for either. And if Barbosa does become available on a loan, it is surely a no-brainer to consider a move.
