Report: 36-year-old set for appointment in Paulo Fonseca's backroom team at Spurs
Spurs fans may have been given a better idea of the backroom team tasked with bouncing back from last season, with The Telegraph reporting that Tiago Leal is set to be a part of setup Paulo Fonseca will put together in North London.
Tottenham look to be edging closer to announcing the Portuguese’s arrival. According to a recent report from the same publication, he has agreed in principle to take over.
Fonseca is set to arrive on a two-year deal with an option for a third.
That same report noted that Nuno Campos is not planning to follow Fonseca to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
But it appears that he will have face a familiar face in his team.
According to The Telegraph, Leal is set to join Spurs. The 36-year-old has worked with Fonseca at his last four clubs.
According to Transfermarkt, Leal has worked as a coach, scout and assistant manager during his backroom career.
It remains to be seen what role he has at Spurs. But the supporters will be hoping that he can have a positive impact following Fonseca’s arrival.
Fonseca and his backroom team have point to prove after Spurs’ managerial search
It seems fair to say that Tottenham’s managerial search did not go exactly to plan.
Fonseca seemed to only come into the reckoning after Spurs went down a number of dead-ends.
He therefore, has something of a point to prove.
Certainly, he may feel that he may have to do a little better as some may have their doubts about how convinced Daniel Levy was about appointing him in the first place.
