Report: Antonio Conte would consider Tottenham position
Antonio Conte is open to taking the Tottenham job this summer after being heavily linked with the position, according to The Guardian.
The former Chelsea incumbent recently walked away from Inter after leading them to the Serie A title for the first time in many years this season.
As a result, his team ended the Juventus stranglehold on Italian football but he’s now seeking a fresh challenge.
Tottenham are on the lookout for a successor to Jose Mourinho. The club finished the season with Ryan Mason in caretaker charge of first-team affairs.
Real Madrid also want Conte and some reports claim talks have begun between those two parties.
Conte is a proven Premier League boss. During the 2016/17 campaign he led the Blues domestic glory; also winning the FA Cup during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Several high-profile names have been linked with the vacancy in North London. Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag are thought to be among those under consideration.
Tottenham finished seventh in the Premier League during 2020/21. They will embark on a campaign in the Europa Conference League for the first time.
The challenge for the new manager will be to secure a top-four finish and possibly even challenge for the title in the near future.
With that in mind, Conte has the credentials to be perfect for the job and appears ready to welcome an approach from the club.
Title-winning boss Conte just the ticket for Tottenham
The Italian has been there, done it and got the t-shirt. He has won titles in Italy and in England and Tottenham would be extremely lucky to have him in charge.
The 51-year-old commands respect from his squad and would arrive at Tottenham with a decent book of contacts, allowing him to recruit some real quality in the transfer window.
Appointing a manager capable of attracting players is a must and his style of football might also be welcome give Mourinho’s conservative strategy.
Tottenham and their supporters are in desperate need of a lift next season. Conte has the credentials to do just that and as a result, he must be viewed as a coup for the club if he gets the nod.
