Jamie Carragher has been speaking to CBS Sports Golazo about reported Leeds United target Christian Pulisic and says he’s very concerned for the player.

Leeds were linked with a possible move for Pulisic over the summer, with the obvious connection between him and compatriot Jesse Marsch.

Journalist Dean Jones reported last month Leeds could try their luck to sign Pulisic during the summer window

The 24-year-old has struggled massively for playing time this season and has only started one game for Chelsea in the Premier League.

Even after the Blues have brought in a new boss in Graham Potter, the American winger has only managed to play a total of 12 minutes since.

Now after his lack of game time so far this season and failing to secure a move away over the summer, Carragher has expressed his concerns over the winger.

Carragher concerned about Leeds target Pulisic

Speaking on CBS Sports Golazo after Chelsea’s 3-0 win over AC Milan last night, Carragher said he cannot see Pulisic getting into Potter’s side anytime soon.

“I think it’s a little bit worrying for Americans in terms of the World Cup,” he said.

“We talk about England as well when it comes to getting players up to speed, and it doesn’t look like he’s going to be at his best in terms of fitness, energy, sharpness, or rhythm going into the World Cup.

“So I think it’s really worrying for him. I just don’t see how he’s going to get the games as there are so many players in those attacking positions.

“The most he’s going to get is minutes coming off the bench, and I don’t think that’s going to be enough for him to show his best in the national team at the World Cup.”

Pulisic has clearly fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea after getting off to a promising start at Stamford Bridge.

The talented winger made the switch from Borussia Dortmund back in 2019 but it just hasn’t quite worked out for him in West London.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Newcastle were obsessed with signing Pulisic over the summer, but Chelsea blocked the move.

It seems likely that Pulisic will look for a move away from Stamford Bridge during the January window and Marsch will undoubtedly want to try his luck. But Leeds would face competition from Eddie Howe’s side.
