'Reached full agreement': Fabrizio Romano suggests Tottenham are now on the verge of signing PL player

Tottenham Hotspur have reached full agreement to sign Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster on a free transfer, claims Fabrizio Romano.

The summer transfer window is still a few weeks away but it looks like Spurs aren’t playing around. They are desperate to keep hold of Antonio Conte, and the one way they can do that is by giving him all the players he needs.

Hugo Lloris is Tottenham’s number one and that’s not going to change. However, Pierluigi Gollini is set to return to Atalanta soon, which opens the door for a new goalkeeper to come in and act as a deputy to the Spurs skipper.

It looks like Forster is the man.

Fabrizio Romano: Tottenham reach full agreement to sign Fraser Forster

It was reported last week that Spurs, who are in need of a backup goalkeeper, have turned their attention to Forster, whose contract at Southampton is coming to an end.

Then, a couple of days ago, it was reported that Tottenham are looking to press ahead with an offer to sign the 6′ 7″ shot-stopper, who has bags of experience in the Premier League under his belt.

It looks like Spurs have wasted no time whatsoever now as Romano has just confirmed that an agreement between both parties has been reached and the move is imminent.

“Fraser Forster has already reached full agreement with Tottenham to join them as backup goalkeeper. He’s now expected to sign the contract soon as new Spurs signing,” he tweeted.

TBR View:

Forster’s time at Southampton has been an up and down one. It looked like his career at the St Mary’s was over after the Saints sent him out on loan to Celtic back in 2019, but it has never been a secret that he’s a top-quality goalkeeper.

The 34-year-old is hugely experienced as well, having played over 450 games for club and country over the years.

Lloris will remain the number one and rightly so. He’s one of Spurs best players, but the drop in quality was just too big when Gollini was his number two.

Forster is way better than the Italian, and he really will be a fantastic signing for Tottenham, even if he barely plays next season.
