Raheem Sterling claims 21-year-old Newcastle reportedly want to sign is the 'fastest man in the world'
England World Cup star Raheem Sterling has lavished praise on the pace and potential of Chelsea teammate Armando Broja.
Journalist Ben Jacobs recently reported that the Magpies were keeping their eye on Broja in case he becomes available on loan mid-season.
On YouTube, Sterling was asked if he was the fastest player at Chelsea and said he wasn’t, with that honour going to 21-year-old Broja.
Sterling on Broja
“Armando Broja – fastest man in the world,” he said.
“When people see him properly… yeah. I can’t lie, I’ve always thought my knack is, whenever I’ve been at clubs, I can always pick when my friends outside have not seen them, and I say ‘he’s the next one’.
“It’s him. I went in, I’d heard a lot of things about him before but never really watched him. He’s the truth. He’s the truth.”
Chelsea got in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang late on during the transfer window, which has blocked Broja’s progression somewhat this season.
He still has time to establish himself at Chelsea, and the Blues do need an elite striker who can do the job and score the goals for years to come.
Newcastle and Everton will hope that mid-season, he wants to leave on loan to get some football, and Broja would be a more exciting, if less experienced, alternative to Chris Wood up front.
