Any hopes Everton and Leeds had of signing Armando Broja appear to be over, after the Chelsea man signed a new contract this evening.
Broja has been brought into the mix at Stamford Bridge this season under Thomas Tuchel. It follows on from an impressive loan spell with Southampton last year. He has now signed a new six-year deal, essentially putting to bed any questions on his future.
However, things didn’t always seem so clear for Broja during the transfer window. Leeds United were linked with making a move for Broja, while Everton also fancied their chances of signing him at one point this summer too.

Broja will now be hoping to make a big impression at Chelsea, despite them signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on deadline day. The former Arsenal striker has penned terms at the Bridge after a short spell in Barcelona.
For Leeds and Everton, they’ll simply have to park the idea of signing Broja, unless they fancy parting ways with an absolutely mammoth fee down the line somewhere. A six year contract is an extremely big deal, and means Chelsea will be able to demand a hefty chunk of change should they decide to sell.
TBR’s View: Broja Can Shine For Chelsea
The signing of Aubameyang shouldn’t put Broja off making a big impression this season. Yes, he might not get as many chances as he might want, but he will still get minutes.
Broja was impressive for Southampton last season and there is no reason why he can’t kick on and impress this season as well at The Bridge.
Chelsea have gone from finding themselves looking for a top number nine but now have two very good options that could fire them to the Champions League places.
