Pundit tells Christian Pulisic to 'stay away from Leeds United'
Steve Nicol has urged Chelsea star Christian Pulisic to not join his compatriot Jesse Marsch at Leeds United this summer if an opportunity presented itself.
The Whites did incredibly well in the second half of last season to survive in the Premier League. They looked down and out at one point, but Marsch deserves immense praise for getting his side over the line in the end.
Leeds fans really are excited about the upcoming season now. Marsch’s tactics could potentially help them reach the heights that they did under Marcelo Bielsa on their return to the Premier League, and the Whites board is backing the American as well.
Among the new signings, Marsch has brought in two Americans in Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson. A fan on Twitter suggested that the Leeds boss should go after Pulisic next, but ESPN FC pundits Alejandro Moreno and Steve Nicol disagreed very quickly.

Steven Nicol urges Christian Pulisic to not join Leeds United
On ESPN FC’s Extra Time show, a fan said: “Hear me out lads. Pulisic needs game time, a coach that sees as one of the first names on the team sheet. A place to be ‘the man’ in the attack. My point is this, Leeds United and Jesse Marsch should go for him. Who says no?”
Moreno replied: “I say no. It seems too logical, too perfect of a choice to make. But it’s not as straightforward as Christian Pulisic going to Leeds United and now all of a sudden, he is going to become this incredible superstar.
“I think the US connection at Leeds United is becoming too much of a conversation already, and I don’t think that would be the best scenario for Pulisic.”
Nicol then added: “No, if I’m Pulisic, I’m not going anywhere near Leeds for a start. Does he make them better? 100 per cent, he makes them better straight away. But from his point of view, stay away from Leeds.
“Maybe he can go to Bayern. If Gnabry doesn’t sign, he can maybe go to Bayern. I don’t think he goes anywhere else in the Premier League.”
Chelsea signed Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund for an eye-watering £58 million (BBC) in 2019, and many expected him to be a superstar in the Premier League.
However, the 23-year-old hasn’t quite lived up to all the hype. He started just 13 Premier League games last season, and there is a good chance that he may be sold this summer.
Pulisic would be a fine signing for many clubs in the world, including Leeds United. He would improve them almost immediately, and under his compatriot, Marsch, he could fulfil his massive potential.
However, it’s extremely unlikely that Leeds will make a move for the American this summer.
