Pundit Kevin Kilbane has been raving about Brighton & Hove Albion forward Evan Ferguson, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool.

Speaking on Off The Ball’s The Football Show, Kilbane was discussing the young Irishman.

Few young strikers have made an impact like Evan Ferguson in the Premier League in the last few years.

Brighton saw glimpses of the 18-year-old under Graham Potter when he was seen on the bench and given his first taste of senior football in England.

Roberto De Zerbi immediately put his full faith in him and it’s already paid off.

He’s scored 7 goals in 19 appearances in all competitions, including goals against Arsenal and a winner against Bournemouth.

Brighton have done an incredible job unearthing young talent from around the world.

Ferguson is no exception, and Brighton have already placed a £100m price tag on the teenager.

That might be enough to put teams off this summer, but if he continues at his current trajectory Europe’s biggest clubs won’t hang around to sign him.

Liverpool have already been linked with a move for Evan Ferguson, and Kilbane thinks he’s got a huge future ahead of him.

He’s picked up a few injuries this season and will hope they don’t become longer-term issues in the future.

Kilbane raves about Liverpool target Ferguson

Asked about Ireland’s latest wonderkid, Kilbane said: “I think he’s got everything. There’s so much to admire about his game.

“What he has is that physical presence, he’s six foot three, he can run off the shoulder, he’s got a little bit of pace.

“He works the channels well, he’s got that sort of side to his game, but the standout feature to his game is where he comes off into the little pockets playing as a 10 on the half-turn, taking the ball with his back foot with the ability to run at defenders and the ability to pick a pass out.

“[He’s] good in air, I mean what doesn’t he have? We’re all extremely exciting about him because we know the ability that he’s got.

“He’s got something very, very special and I wish him all the very best in his career and I think he’s got a huge future ahead of him, hopefully staying injury free.

“He’s had a couple of problems with his ankle, hopefully he can correct that.”

TBR View – Ferguson needs to stay patient, his chance will come

Kilbane’s praise of Ferguson is very reminiscent of descriptions of Harry Kane, and Liverpool could do a lot worse than to go all in on the 18-year-old.

However, Brighton will be in no mood to sell arguably their most exciting prospect.

If he can stay fit, Ferguson will be playing week in, week out for Brighton next season.

Not only that, he may have the opportunity to showcase his talent in Europe.

Given his age, there’s no denying Ferguson has plenty of time to go and play for a bigger team eventually.

But the more senior minutes he can get under his belt at this age, the more it will benefit him in the future.
