Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has claimed that there are ‘proposals’ on the table for reported Arsenal and Newcastle target, Lucas Paqueta.

The Brazilian star is being linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, with both Arsenal and Newcastle said to be the clubs most keen on signing him. Paqueta has been one of the stars of Ligue 1 over the last few seasons and has seen his close friend, Bruno Guimaraes, make the move to England successfully.

And according to Lyon supremo Aulas, there are indeed offers for Paqueta which he is weighing up at the moment.

“There are proposals for him. There are certain players who can feel complete in the project, and others who don’t. Economically, we have the means to pursue our ideas and objectives,” Aulas told Goal.

I want to keep all the good players, but you also have to be realistic.

“There is the player who is very important in the matter, the coach, the club, the other clubs. It is always a game between the different parties.”

Lauded as ‘world star‘, Paqueta is expected to feature for Brazil during the World Cup in Qatar this winter. As well as Arsenal and Newcastle, Tottenham were also said to be working on a deal for Paqueta just last month.

TBR’s View: Scramble To Land Paqueta Could Happen

Top players don’t always come on the market this freely and it’s very much possible that we see a huge scramble to land Paqueta.

Newcastle, Tottenham and Arsenal could all benefit from the attacking midfielder’s abilities. He is a class act and as we’ve seen with Bruno in the northeast, could more than easily adapt to the Premier League.

Should any of the English clubs pull this one off, then they’ll be getting a fine player who will make a huge difference to their seasons.
