Report: Tottenham now keen on signing £50m Brazilian 'world star'; he's already held talks with Newcastle
Tottenham Hotspur continue to be the go-to club when it comes to transfer rumours and Football London has today linked them with Lyon star, Lucas Paqueta.
The Brazilian star, who has been branded as being a ‘world star’ previously, has already got interest in England from Newcastle United. Indeed, he’s even said to made a visit to St James’ Park already.
Paqueta is close friends with Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes. But despite that natural link, Football London has today claimed that Tottenham are now tracking the Lyon ace. It’s suggested he is one of the players Antonio Conte has his eye on when it comes to strengthening his attacking midfield options.
Spurs are already signing Dejan Kulusevski after his impressive loan spell. But there is a distinct lack of goalscoring support for Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane from midfield areas, and Paqueta could solve that.
Lyon value the midfielder at around the £50m mark and with Tottenham having Champions League football this season, it’s not a figure that will put the club off too much.

Now this is the sort of name Tottenham fans wanted to hear about. The Brazilian is scintillating on his day and like Bruno at Newcastle, he could take the league by storm.
Paqueta brings goals, assists, bite and energy to any team and it’s little wonder he has done so well with Lyon and ended up getting Brazil calls as well.
For Tottenham, this is the calibre of player they can now go for. The lure of Conte, Champions League football, and the potential to win trophies all bode well for Spurs here. If they can land Paqueta, then it will be quite the statement signing from the club.
