'Prefer to sell': Club ready to get rid of 'world-class' Tottenham target in January for just £8m - journalist

Borussia Mönchengladbach are now ready to get rid of reported Tottenham Hotspur target Marcus Thuram in January for around just £8 million, according to journalist Nico Schira

Thuram is enjoying his best ever start to a season in the Bundesliga as he’s already netted 10 times in just 15 appearances for Mönchengladbach.

The Frenchman had only ever managed 10 goals in the German league over the course of a whole season beforehand.

90 Min has reported that Tottenham are interested in signing the 25-year-old as he nears the end of his current deal.

Antonio Conte has been on the lookout for attacking reinforcements and with Thuram’s contract set to run until the end of the season, Mönchengladbach could be ready to let him leave on a cut price deal.

Mönchengladbach ready to get rid of Thuram

Schira claims Gladbach would prefer to sell Thuram for around £8.6 million than allow him to leave for free in eight months.

The journalist says Inter Milan are already working on a deal to sign Thuram, while Bayern Munich have offered him a five-year contract.

Thuram was recently called up to France’s World Cup squad and after Karim Bezema’s injury, he could now get more of an opportunity in Qatar.

The striker has been hailed as ‘world-class’ by Wolfsburg’s sporting director Marcel Schäfer this season.

He told Kicker: “Thuram is a world-class striker. That has to be said quite clearly. He has world-class format.”

Spurs are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements, with Football.London reporting that Conte wants ‘quality’ cover for Dejan Kulusevski

Tottenham did bring in Richarlison over the summer, but after the Brazilian picked up a calf injury while Kulusevski was sidelined, Conte was left short.

The Italian clearly doesn’t trust the likes of Bryan Gil enough to start under him just yet, while Lucas Moura’s deal is set to expire at the end of the season.

Thuram would certainly be a brilliant addition to the Spurs squad and would seemingly be available at a bargain price too. But Tottenham will have to convince the player to make the switch to north London and compete with the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son for a place in the side.
