‘Potentially Spurs’… Newcastle and Tottenham could try to sign £19m striker in the summer

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United could try to sign Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth.

That is according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who has reported whether a potential January move could happen.

So, what has been reported about Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Dominic Solanke? Let’s take a look.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United linked with summer move for Dominic Solanke

Well, journalist Ben Jacobs has reported that Newcastle United will try to sign former Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke in the summer of 2024.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has also noted that Tottenham Hotspur could potentially try to secure the services of the Bournemouth star at the end of the season.

The reporter has said that it is unlikely that Bournemouth will sell the striker, who is rated highly by Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, in January.

Jacobs told GiveMeSport about Solanke: “Bournemouth sources deny Newcastle have made an enquiry for Dominic Solanke, a player Magpies boss Eddie Howe actually signed. But Solanke is absolutely on a list of potential summer targets for Newcastle.

“I don’t think anything is possible in January. Bournemouth will resist a sale, and Newcastle can’t afford to buy now. Solanke is also thriving and stands a chance of a place at Euro 2024 on this form. It would be risky moving and disrupting his goalscoring rhythm.

“I expect Newcastle, and potentially Spurs, to try for Solanke in the summer. The downside for Solanke at Newcastle is Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson both play through the middle in a 4-3-3.

“Maybe Howe views Solanke as a Wilson replacement but, as long as he remains at the club, Solanke might worry about his game time or being played out of his preferred position.

“He has thrived in a 4-2-3-1 at Bournemouth, leading the line, and Newcastle might actually prove a tougher team, tactically speaking, to thrive in.”

My View: Summer move to Tottenham or Newcastle could happen

In my opinion, Tottenham Hotspur or Newcastle United could be able to sign Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth in the summer of 2024.

Spurs and Newcastle are bigger clubs than Bournemouth, and I do not think that Solanke would turn down a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium or St. James’ Park.

While Newcastle are going places under Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), Tottenham could end up in the top four of the Premier League table this season and perhaps even win the title.

Solanke, who cost Bournemouth £19 million (The Daily Mail) in transfer fees when they signed him from Liverpool in 2019 and has been backed to join Arsenal in January, has scored 12 goals and given one assist in 19 Premier League matches this season.
