Tottenham Hotspur star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg had his say on Spurs fans yesterday and his view is the complete opposite of what Gary Lineker felt during commentary.

Antonio Conte’s Spurs sid went to Middlesbrough yesterday with hopes of winning a trophy this season still very much alive. Just 120 minutes after kick-off, those dreams came to an end and Tottenham will end another campaign without any silverware.

Josh Coburn’s goal in the 107th minute was enough to help Boro pick up a famous win. That crushed Spurs fans’ hearts and Gary Lineker felt that the travelling supporters were very quiet during the game.

He said during commentary on BBC Sport: “Tottenham seem pretty flat, they’re struggling with their performance, in fact their fans below us have been pretty quiet. They have been kept pretty quiet by Middlesbrough’s performance.”

Hojbjerg disagrees with Gary Lineker, says Spurs fans had a huge voice

Hojbjerg, unsurprisingly, was disappointed with the result yesterday, but the Dane noticed how massively involved his side’s fans were in the away end.

He said in a video released on Spurs’ official Twitter handle: “Obviously, Middlesbrough were creating momentum in parts of the game. Some parts of the game we did ok, but other parts of the game we were struggling to keep the compactness.

“I think we had enough chances to win the game but when you don’t execute, you give Middlesbrough even bigger belief and you give the crowd the chance to become the 12th man.

“Although, I thought our fans today, the away fans, were massively involved and had a huge voice. But, we have to execute the chance we had and close the game, finish. Very disappointed.”

What is going on at Tottenham? That’s the question on every Spurs fan’s mind right now and even Antonio Conte doesn’t look like he has the answer.

It’s crazy to see that the same team under the same manager convincingly beat one of the best sides in Europe in Manchester City and then lose games against relegation-threatened Burnley and Championship side Middlesbrough.

This simply cannot continue for Tottenham, who have huge ambitions. Conte has to change something, but it really does look like he’s running out of patience too at the moment.

Spurs take on Everton next and if they play like the way they did last night, they will lose again.
