David Ornstein has told The Transfer Gossip Daily Podcast that he has been told that Luis Diaz may not even be the top name on Tottenham Hotspur’s wishlist amid reports that Antonio Conte’s men have launched a stunning bid for the Porto star.
Spurs kicked off the final week of the January transfer window in some style. It was reported that they had made a bid worth up to £46 million for the Porto star.

Diaz has been outstanding this season. He has scored 14 goals in the top-flight. Meanwhile, he has also bagged two goals in the Champions League. And he has done it while playing wide on the left.
He has been linked with Liverpool in recent months. But it would appear that Tottenham have made the big play for the 25-year-old in this window. And it says quite something that they are prepared to make the attacker one of their most expensive signings ever.

It will be fascinating to see what happens with Diaz in the coming days. Tottenham are surely not going to make only one offer if they are prepared to put such a large amount on the table initially.
But interestingly, Ornstein has suggested that Diaz may not even be the player Tottenham have identified as their number one target.
“I think Tottenham have got a lot of irons in a lot of fires,” he told The Transfer Gossip Daily Podcast. “And so, Diaz is one of the players they like. But there are numerous, and I’m told there are perhaps some even ahead of him on their wishlist.”
Tottenham fans will hope more exciting bids to come after Ornstein’s update on Luis Diaz interest
Of course, Ornstein’s claim could go one of two ways for Tottenham. It may mean that they have already suffered disappointment in their pursuits of their top targets and are working down the list.
But it could also potentially mean that there is plenty to look forward to for Spurs fans. Bidding for Diaz looked to be a huge statement of intent.
And if he is not even the name at the top of their wishlist, then perhaps Fabio Paratici may have some hugely exciting bids in the pipeline before the deadline passes.
