Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Gabriel Magalhaes is only focused on Arsenal despite all the rumours surrounding his future.
The Brazilian has been one of Arsenal’s best players since he joined them from Lille in the summer of 2020. He has made a few costly mistakes at times, but he’s still integral to the way Mikel Arteta’s side play.
Arsenal fans aren’t the only ones impressed by Gabriel. Multiple reports from Spain have claimed over the last few days that Xavi Hernandez is very keen to sign the Gunners defender this summer.
The 24-year-old has now come out and said he’s happy at the Emirates and Romano has revealed that Gabriel is just focused on Arsenal despite all the speculation.
Fabrizio Romano: Gabriel Magalhaes is only focused on Arsenal despite Barcelona links
In an interview with Premier League Productions this week ahead of Arsenal’s game against Southampton on Saturday, Gabriel made it clear that he’s happy at Arsenal.
He said, as quoted by The Evening Standard: “I feel good, I feel at home at Arsenal. It’s a great squad to be a part of and together I am sure we can achieve a lot. I am very happy here. Reaching the top four is our aim, but we know how tough it will be.”
Romano relayed those quotes on Twitter today and revealed that Gabriel is only focused on Arsenal and the top four race, and no talks have been held between the player, Barcelona and the Gunners.
“He’s only focused on Arsenal – no talks with Barça as of today, his priority is UCL race now,” Romano tweeted.
TBR View:
Gabriel Magalhaes is one of Arsenal’s most important players and selling him shouldn’t even be considered by the bosses at the Emirates.
Branded as a ‘terrific’ player by Mikel Arteta, Gabriel will still have three years left on his contract this summer. That puts the Gunners in a strong position, but it’s time that they rewarded the Brazilian with a new contract.
It will be interesting to see how this pans out in the coming months. It’s never easy for a player to turn down a move to a historic club like Barcelona, but if Romano and Gabriel himself are to be believed, it looks like he isn’t even thinking about leaving the Gunners.
That is excellent news for Arsenal supporters.
