'One of the options': Romano claims £30m star linked with Tottenham is now wanted by Chelsea
Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have been linked with Kyle Walker-Peters in recent weeks.
However, the Southampton ace is now apparently on the radar of Chelsea too.
CBS Ben Jacobs recently told Give Me Sport that Spurs and the Gunners were eyeing a swoop for the 25-year-old.
“Arsenal are keeping tabs on Walker-Peters, but nothing beyond that at this stage,” he said.
“Tottenham are exploring re-signing Walker-Peters from Southampton.
“I think whoever lands him will land a tremendous player.
“He was one of the best right-backs in the Premier League last season.”
Now, Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter with an update on the reported Tottenham and Arsenal target.
He claimed that Walker-Peters is one of the right-back options on Chelsea’s radar, alongside Denzel Dumfries.
Walker-Peters is proving to be a wanted man after a fantastic season with the Saints last term.
Obviously, he has impressed whenever he has featured at right-back for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.
But Walker-Peters has also done well on the opposite flank.
And it seems that teams are sitting up and taking real notice of his form.
The Athletic noted that Tottenham had agreed a buy-back clause worth £30m for Walker-Peters.
This gives Spurs a huge advantage, but with other top clubs after him, it’s not a foregone conclusion.
“Makes nearly no mistakes”
Earlier this season, Hasenhuttl compared Walker-Peters to Germany legend Philipp Lahm.
“Kyle is an unbelievably smart footballer with a super football intelligence,” he told the Daily Echo.
“He plays left-back, right-back.
“Reminds me a little bit of Philipp Lahm I must say, because he is so good on the ball, he always has good decisions.
“He can run and makes nearly no mistakes.”
