Sean Dyche has been confirmed as Nottingham Forest’s new manager, and fans have one key issue with their club’s statement.
After a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea on Saturday, Ange Postecoglou was sacked by Forest.
Evangelos Marinakis moved quickly to dismiss the ex-Tottenham Hotspur man, with confirmation of the exit coming within an hour of the loss.
Now, Nottingham Forest have appointed Sean Dyche to the dugout, and one comment made by the club has not gone down too well with supporters.

Nottingham Forest’s Sean Dyche statement mocked
In their official statement, Forest wrote that Dyche was chosen ‘following a thorough recruitment process led by Global Head of Football, Edu Gaspar, and Global Technical Director, George Syrianos’.
Such a claim has now been mocked on social media, with fans also quick to point out how Evangelos Marinakis has distanced himself from the news.
One fan wrote: “A three-day thorough recruitment process.”
A second responded: “Marinakis didn’t like the stick he got for Ange, so distancing himself as much as possible for this one. Subtle as a brick.”
“Thorough recruitment process- look for 48 hrs and then decide, ‘—- it, give it to Dyche’,” tweeted a third.
Another Nottingham Forest fan added: “I’m pro Dyche but even I find the bit about the ‘thorough recruitment process led by GLOBAL director Edu’ where we’ve given the man from down the road the job. Well, by making it so clear it’s Edu’s shout, this really needs to work out. For his sake as much as Forest’s sake.”
A fifth suggested: “Thorough recruitment process. Give me a break, if it was thorough, you wouldn’t have been in the mess in the first place, and you certainly wouldn’t have landed on Dyche’s name. Laughable. If Edu is making decisions like this, he needs sacking, pronto.”
Sean Dyche’s record as a manager
It’s not exactly a flashy appointment from Forest, but with only one win in eight Premier League matches this season, swift action needed to be taken.
Dyche’s last role in management came in January 2025 when he left Everton.
Prior to that, he enjoyed spells with the likes of Burnley and Watford.

Nottingham Forest return to action on Thursday, taking on FC Porto in a Europa League clash.
Dyche has previous experience in Europe, having led Burnley to their first European campaign since 1967 in the 2017/18 season.
