Sean Dyche is officially the new head coach of Nottingham Forest, with the former Everton and Burnley man taking over from Ange Postecoglou.
Postecoglou was sacked on Saturday afternoon, following the 3-0 loss to Chelsea.
Evangelos Marinakis acted swiftly, relieving Postecoglou of his duties not even an hour from the full-time whistle.
TBR Football revealed that Forest were in talks with Dyche on Saturday, and now the move has materialised, with the club confirming his arrival on Tuesday morning.
Nottingham Forest hire Sean Dyche
Forest released an official statement that revealed Dyche would be taking over at The City Ground.
The statement read: “Nottingham Forest is delighted to confirm the appointment of Sean Dyche as the Club’s new Head Coach, following a thorough recruitment process led by Global Head of Football, Edu Gaspar, and Global Technical Director, George Syrianos.
“The former Forest youth player joins the Club on a contract running until the summer of 2027 and will take charge of his first match on Thursday night as The Reds take on FC Porto in the Europa League. Dyche will be joined by his experienced coaching team of Ian Woan and Steve Stone – both former Nottingham Forest players who together made more than 400 appearances for the Reds during the 1990s.
“A respected and experienced Premier League manager, Dyche brings the perfect blend of character, tactical acumen and proven achievement to guide the Club through its next chapter.
“Having managed more than 330 Premier League matches in his career to date, Dyche has built teams defined by defensive organisation, resilience, and strength from set pieces – qualities that align closely with the current squad’s attributes and the Club’s footballing identity.
“As a former Forest youth player who lives locally, Dyche also has a deep understanding of the values and pride of Forest and its supporters.
“With his character, tactical acumen and man-management skills, his appointment represents the best opportunity for a successful and competitive season across both domestic and European competitions.
Graeme Bailey on Sean Dyche appointment
TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, weighed in on Dyche’s appointment.
He said: “Sean Dyche is the sensible choice, the club knew they had to get someone in now, not to keep them up as they didn’t think they were in relegation trouble, but someone who could get to work with this squad right away.
“I am told Dyche is delighted, he knows he needs to prove himself, but this is the strongest squad he has ever had, stronger than anything he had at Everton or Burnley.

“This is a top-six squad and whilst Forest are not expecting that, they are demanding a quick change in fortunes and Dyche is more than confident he can produce.
“Whilst not a demand, the club would like Dyche to push for silverware this season.
“And whilst signing until 2027, Dyche also knows the pressure is on. If he does not prove he can take this club forward between now and the end of the season, they will change it again – have no doubts about that.”
