Newcastle fans will be excited ahead of this summer after securing Premier League football again, even if there are different reports on their transfer budget.
The Magpies spent wisely in January on a number of good players. The likes of Dan Burn and Matty Targett have been steady signings, while Bruno Guimaraes has blown the roof off of St James’ Park. All in all, it’s been a hugely positive start to life under PIF, with Eddie Howe impressing as well.

Heading into the summer, Howe will want a number of new players. However, the Daily Mail has reported how the Newcastle transfer team are ready to spend the bulk of their budget on a marquee striker. Callum Wilson has returned from injury and done well, but the Magpies are thought to want a top number nine to help spearhead their challenge.
A host of names have already been linked, of course. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is one name being mentioned, while Patrick Bamford has also been tipped recently. Other star names, such as Darwin Nunez and Gabriel Jesus, are also thought to be of interest to Newcastle.
TBR’s View: Newcastle Need To Spend Transfer Budget Wisely And A Striker Is Key
The biggest challenge for Newcastle here will be getting someone in the door who is a guarantee of goals and success for the money. If they’re going to use the majority of their transfer budget, then it has to be done right.
Wilson is already a good goalscorer and if he stays injury free then Newcastle will do well. Chris Wood is also a useful player to have in the squad, as he’s shown.
If Newcastle get it right, and they do bring in a striker who is or can be world-class, then they might well be pushing for the top six quicker than expected.
