With L’Equipe hailing the defender as ‘revolutionary’ for Toulouse, West Ham are also chasing Costa, who this window seems intent on moving to the Premier League despite interest from UEFA Champions League side Bologna.

With Newcastle in the market for a defender, news of the Magpies making a ‘mega offer’ for Costa could indicate that Cape Verde could be closing in on a move to the English northeast from France.

Indeed, Costa was one of the breakout youngsters in France last season after Toulouse’s impressive run in the UEFA Europa League, and Newcastle would be a fitting next destination for the 22-year-old defender.
