Newcastle quoted £15m for 'wonderful' Premier League midfielder - report
Newcastle United have been quoted £15million for Todd Cantwell, according to The Sun.
The Magpies have set about bolstering their ranks in pursuit of Premier League survival.
Newcastle need to strengthen in multiple positions and a new midfielder wouldn’t go amiss.
Earlier this week, Sky Sports claimed the Magpies had set their sights on Cantwell.
The Norwich ace was previously deemed one of the top youngsters in English football.
In November 2019, Alan Shearer said Cantwell’s performance against Everton “had everything”.
And last year, Dean Ashton said: “He was incredible (when I first saw him).
“The way he was drifting past players. His speed of thought and his awareness.
“He’s just a wonderful player.”
However, the 23-year-old has fallen out of favour at his current club.
Cantwell has started just two Premier League games under head coach Dean Smith.
He has made eight appearances in the league this season, but hasn’t yet registered a goal or an assist.
Cantwell’s contract is up in the summer, but Norwich have the option to extend for a further year.
Now, The Sun claim he has been told he can leave Carrow Road this month but only for the right price.
Newcastle are believed to be the only club eyeing Cantwell, and have reportedly been quoted £15million.
