Newcastle now interested in signing £60m Arsenal outfield player as well as Ramsdale in January

Arsenal could face a fight to keep Newcastle away from another one of their players now, with the Mags apparently keen on Emile Smith Rowe.

The Toon are reportedly looking at Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale as an option to bolster their squad in January.

Eddie Howe has seen his team ripped apart by injury this season. Those injuries, coupled with the ban for Sandro Tonali, mean a busy January could now lie ahead.

And according to The Athletic, Newcastle now also hold an interest in a second Arsenal player in the form of Emile Smith Rowe.

Newcastle would like to sign Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe

According to the report, Newcastle have long had an admiration for Smith Rowe and have been tracking him for some time.

It’s claimed Eddie Howe would like to bring in another forward thinking player if he can. However, it’s suggested the notion of getting a deal over the line for an attacking player is a tough one.

Newcastle are having to stay within the confines of strict FFP rules and having spent big in the last few windows, need to balance the books a touch.

Further, the likelihood of them not qualifying for the Champions League next season is now higher than ever, which impacts that spending.

Smith Rowe, who has been out of favour at Arsenal, might have to be one who waits for the Toon for the time being.

Smith Rowe would be great for Howe

We’ve seen the Newcastle boss get some top performances out of the likes of Anthony Gordon and more at St James’ Park.

With that in mind, you’d have to feel he’d do the business with someone like Smith Rowe as well.

Lauded as an ‘incredible‘ talent by Danny Cowley recently, Smith Rowe has not been getting regular game time for Arsenal and looks short of confidence.

He came on last night briefly but did little. A move, then, could well be the making of him right him.

Should Newcastle have the funds to somehow get this one over the line, then it’s definitely something that would be a smart piece of January business.
