Spare a thought for Emile Smith Rowe.

The England international saved Mikel Arteta’s skin back in 2020/21 with his breakout performances buying the Arsenal manager more time in the dugout after a string of poor results to open that season, but, these days, he can’t get a sniff.

Smith Rowe has started just two games in all competitions for Arsenal this season, but we mustn’t forget just how good this young man is when he’s on his game.

Speaking on Hawksbee and Jacobs Daily, Danny Cowley has been discussing Smith Rowe and the time he spent managing the Arsenal ace at Huddersfield, and he says that the 23-year-old is an incredible talent who taught him a lot about the game.

Smith Rowe an incredible talent

Cowley shared his verdict on the former Huddersfield loanee.

“For Nicky and I it’s always a privilege to have players like this. I remember we had Emile Smith Rowe and his first day in training we had a relegation battle at Huddersfield and he trained and he lit the place up. He was such a quiet and introverted boy, but what an incredible talent, his ability to find space, one touch, he was an incredible talent, these players even though they lack experience, they actually teach you the game, you learn so much from watching them,” Cowley said.

Needs to leave

As Cowley says, Smith Rowe is an incredible talent, and there is a feeling that he needs to leave Arsenal if he is to fulfil his potential.

Smith Rowe looked like the world was at his feet just a few years ago, but now, he’s struggling for minutes and that doesn’t look like changing anytime soon.

Smith Rowe, of course, loves Arsenal, but he needs to put his own career first at some point and leave in search of first-team football.
