Newcastle United are harbouring hopes that Manchester United midfielder, Jesse Lingard, will be able to join them on their trip to Saudi Arabia this week, as speculation continues to grow over a transfer.

Lingard is being tipped a major transfer target for the Magpies this month. With around a week of the transfer window to go, it very much seems like Newcastle are in pole position when it comes to Lingard. Indeed, reports today have suggested the club are making a push to land him before the week is over.

And according to The Telegraph, Newcastle are privately hoping to see Lingard arrive with the squad in Saudi Arabia as they take on a warm weather training camp under Eddie Howe’s watchful eye.

The Telegraph claims sources within the club have talked about seeing Lingard in Saudi. However, it is caveated with the fact that there is no indication that will be the case as yet. It is believed Newcastle are willing to pay a hefty fee for Lingard to come on loan. Come the summer, the England man will be out of contract and free to join who he wants.

TBR’s View: Lingard Signing Could Boost Newcastle Further

The Toon headed out to the Middle East in good spirits following their win over Leeds. So if the club can entice Lingard over the next few days and get him to the training camp, it will only increase that feel-good factor.

Lingard is also a quality addition. We mustn’t forget how good he can be on his day. You only have to look at what he did with West Ham last year. Further, let’s not forget that this is also a player Bruno Fernandes has called ‘top level‘.

If Newcastle can get Lingard over the line, then Eddie Howe will be one happy manager.
