Arteta could start ‘outstanding’ alternative to Nketiah up front for Arsenal v Burnley

Arsenal will hope to make it two wins in a row this week when they host Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta’s Gunners triumphed in their midweek Champions League encounter with Sevilla and will be eager to get back to winning ways in the top flight.

The Arsenal boss has some thinking to do in terms of who should lead the line for the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium.

Not only is Gabriel Jesus out with an injury, but Eddie Nketiah missed out in midweek due to an ankle knock he sustained in the Newcastle loss.

According to football.london, Nketiah is in contention to return, but Arteta could potentially stick rather than twist and keep Leandro Trossard up top in the starting XI.

Arsenal should give ‘classy’ Trossard another chance to lead the line

The Belgium international does well for Arsenal when called upon. Not only did he score in midweek, but he has a knack for bringing the best out of his teammates around him too.

Trossard simply links better. We saw that in midweek, the way he linked up with Gabriel Martinelli and helped him be even more of a threat down the left.

Then you have the fitness element. To keep Nketiah fresh, keeping him on the bench to begin with and bringing him off midway through the second half would ease him back in after his injury.

Trossard is an ‘absolutely outstanding‘, ‘classy‘ and ‘intelligent‘ player who should be given another chance to show what he can do leading the line at Arsenal. Let him cook.

The Gunners really are a well-oiled machine at present, with strength in depth in pretty much every department. Arteta needs to make the most of it.

This is being tested right now, with Arsenal having numerous players out. Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Takehiro Tomiyasu are still considered doubts ahead of the match.
